Meet Dr. Durden
Phillip H. Durden, DMD, MAGD, FAACP
Dr. Durden was born in Athens, Georgia and grew up in the surrounding area. His father's family owned the Durden Music Store in downtown Athens for years and his mother's family once owned the telephone company, Empire Telephone, that serviced most of Madison and Oglethorpe Counties, including Winterville.
Dr. Durden graduated from the University of Georgia in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. While attending the university, he played trumpet in the University of Georgia Redcoat Band. He completed his dental education with honors at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1989 and opened his dental practice in Winterville that same year. He is a member of the Winterville Civitan Club and is involved in the community.
Dr. Durden and his team continually update their knowledge and methodology through continuing education in all aspects of dentistry, including hundreds of hours of continuing education in TMJ & Sleep Disorders, head, neck, and facial pain, and orthodontics. He is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. He is also a member of the International Association for Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Georgia Dental Association, as well as a founding member of the Athens Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Study Club.
Dr. Durden and his wife, Janine, have two children, Suzanne and Craig. Suzanne is attending the University of Georgia where she is studying Public Relations and keeps active with her sorority's philanthropy projects. Craig attends Young Harris College and enjoys exploring the Georgia mountain outdoors nearby YHC and playing intramural sports - soccer, basketball and flag football.
